From Wellington to Te Awanga

Another sparkling day accompanying us as we left lovely Wellington heading north the 220 miles to Hawkes Bay and Te Awanga. We headed up along the Tararua Range of mountains making a crossing over a pass called Rimutaka Crossing. Here are views in either direction.

From there we dropped down into a broad valley with these beautiful views.

We slipped between the Puketoi Range to the east and Ruahine Range to the West. About 35 miles from our destination we decided to take tiny little back roads some of it along the Tukituki River.

So green. Lots and lots of sheep though I didn’t get any pictures of them. We are on the Pacific with views of Cape Kidnappers. There are a half dozen wineries on our road within 5 miles and an easy bike ride. Should be a nice few days here!
